Surrey Wedding Photography | Fall Church Ceremony & Golf Course Reception

As a Victoria, BC wedding photographer, I’m always honoured when couples invite me to travel beyond Vancouver Island to document their wedding day. This fall wedding in Surrey, British Columbia was a beautiful reminder of how thoughtfully planned moments, strong family connections, and joyful celebration can come together across multiple locations in the Lower Mainland.

The day began with a meaningful church ceremony at St. Matthew Church in Surrey. Surrounded by family and close friends, the couple exchanged vows in a calm and reverent setting, filled with warm wood tones and soft natural light. From quiet moments at the altar to the focused expressions of guests and the wedding party, the ceremony carried a sense of stillness and intention that set the tone for the rest of the day.

Immediately following the ceremony, we focused on family portraits. Capturing these moments while everyone is still gathered allows couples to preserve relationships that matter most, creating images that become more meaningful with time. These portraits are often some of the most treasured photographs from a wedding day, reflecting connection, support, and shared history.

Later in the afternoon, the couple stepped away for a dedicated portrait session surrounded by rich fall colours. The autumn foliage added warmth and depth, creating a softer, more cinematic feel to the images. This is why I often recommend scheduling couple portraits closer to sunset rather than midday, especially during fall weddings in the Lower Mainland. Gentler light and warmer tones allow couples to relax, slow down, and be fully present with each other, resulting in portraits that feel natural and timeless.

The celebration continued into the evening with a lively reception at Morgan Creek Golf Course in Surrey. As the atmosphere shifted from quiet reflection to joyful celebration, the room quickly filled with laughter and energy. One of the highlights of the night was the shoe game, which brought out playful reactions and genuine emotion from both the couple and their guests. Moments like these reveal personality and connection in a way that feels effortless and real.

As the evening progressed, the dance floor came alive. Guests didn’t hold back, and the celebration unfolded with infectious energy, spontaneous movement, and plenty of unforgettable moments. From interactive games to a packed dance floor, the reception captured the joy of bringing families and friends together to celebrate something meaningful.

From a heartfelt church ceremony to fall couple portraits and an energetic golf course reception, this wedding reflected the full rhythm of a day thoughtfully lived. If you’re planning a wedding in Surrey, the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, or anywhere in British Columbia, and are looking for wedding photography that blends candid moments with intentional storytelling, I’d love to connect and hear about your plans.n the version of yourself you’re becoming.
